The VW Supervisory Board rejected the allegations of the ex-board of directors Piƫch in sharp form. The assertion that the body had already known the Dieselskandal in March 2015 had already been classified as unbelievable. Now examine claims against Piƫch.
The VW Supervisory Board has sharply refused accusations from former board member Ferdinand Piƫch, according to which the panel knew already in March 2015 of the Dieselskandal. In an opinion it was said that the Volkswagen executive board "carefully examine" possible measures and claims against Piƫch. This could also be a criminal complaint or compensation claims against Piƫch.
Previously, the "Bild" newspaper reported that Piƫch had heavily burdened the Supervisory Board. Among other things, Lower Saxony's Prime Minister, Stephan Weil, and works councilor Bernd Osterloh, should have learned about the exhaust gas manipulations in the USA at the beginning of March 2015, much earlier than previously known. The Supervisory Board stated that it was by no means new, but that it had already been raised in the spring of 2016. This presentation was thoroughly examined in detail by Jones Day's law firm. "There have been no indications for the correctness of these allegations, they were generally considered unbelievable."
Because "representation is simply wrong"
Lower Saxony's Prime Minister and VW's Supervisory Board member Stephan Weil stated that he had been aware of Piƫch's allegations for several months. "In fact, in the spring of 2015, there were no indications to me from any side that Volkswagen had an unacceptable influence on pollutant values, which I did not find out until September 19, 2015. Any different representation is simple not correct." Bernd Osterloh, Chairman of the Works Council, commented the same way.
Piƫch also burdened Winterkorn
Recently the "Spiegel" had already reported that Piƫch had ex-CEO Martin Winterkorn against the Braunschweig public prosecutor's office. Piƫch therefore indicated that by the end of February 2015 an informant had been given the indication that the carer is manipulating exhaust gas values and therefore has a major problem in the USA. He was confronted with Winterkorn. Winterkorn, on the other hand, asserts that he did not know of the manipulations until the beginning of September 2015. He had resigned shortly after becoming acquainted with the affair. The Braunschweiger prosecutors investigate against him and other former as well as current managers because of the suspicion of the fraud and the market manipulation.
The 79-year-old Piƫch is co-owner of Porsche and thus also major shareholder of VW. Until April 2015, he was a long-standing Volkswagen Supervisory Board member and was regarded as the most powerful man at Volkswagen. He resigned after an internal power struggle with winter grain.
